The 2014 Toyota Corolla had some inspiring makeover with standard LED-accented headlights, chiseled body lines and pumped-up grille making it the most dramatic-looking Corolla yet.
Today we’re driving the 2014 Toyota Corolla, one of the kinds of the compact sedan, with a 2 liter engine. Along with an exterior styling makeover, the 11th-generation Corolla gets a revised engine and a more upscale interior for 2014.
Exterior
For 2014, the Corolla pulled a reality TV inspired makeover: Toyota took the sedan’s exterior from conservative to an attention-grabbing star. Its standard LED-accented headlights, chiseled body lines and pumped-up grille make it the most dramatic-looking Corolla yet. To be honest though, any update would’ve elevated the 2013 version from the depths of its drabness. Instantly apparent are cues Toyota borrowed from the Avalon large sedan, the grille and headlights specifically look familiar and the effect works on the Corolla. It may yet have some more work before it can match the aggressive styling of its Korean competitors but at least now it can’t be labeled “boring”.

Performance
If you’re expecting an exciting driving experience to accompany this extroverted styling, you’re probably going to be disappointed. Toyota kept the Corolla’s easygoing personality intact. But the new 2014 Toyota Corolla does offer decent performance, a comfortable ride and good gas mileage. Toyota did a great job with the continuously variable automatic transmission. It feels more natural and refined than previous models. Some CVTs in the class take their time building power and cause their engines to complain loudly, but Toyota’s is both responsive and relatively quiet. It can get loud when pushed, but it’s far from being the biggest offender.

However, the corolla does suffer from some major insulation problems making the car noise pretty loud. The mirrors cause quite a bit of wind ruckus, and the road noise will have you checking to see if all the windows are closed.
The best thing about the new 2014 Toyota Corolla is that it never feels as if it’s straining to keep up with the busy Dubai traffic or unable to deal with the unexpected.
Interior
The 2014 Corolla’s interior is not the most exciting when compared (again) to its Korean competitors. But things are easy to find and easy to use. Materials quality is average, and overall, the interior of the Corolla doesn’t look or feel very upscale compared to others in its class, but then again, a corolla has never been known for its interior. Its been known to work, and work well reliably year after year and the car does exactly that. There are options for Bluetooth connectivity.

The Corolla’s trunk capacity is average at 13 cubic feet, but the wide opening eases loading and unloading. If more space is needed, the rear seat splits and folds to increase capacity.
Comfort & Safety
As with most Toyotas, the front seats are soft and comfy, while those in higher models are firmer and have more pronounced side bolsters. There is plenty of space here, even for taller drivers, and the backseat also boasts impressive space. Indeed, at 41.4 inches, rear legroom bests that of most midsize sedans.

Up front, there’s a phone-sized cubby handily located in front of auxiliary input and USB ports, as well as a small-ish center console. For the backseat, there are two pop-out cupholders and one bottleholder in each door.

The corolla has always proved to be a relatively safe car and comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag and both driver and passenger seat cushion airbags that inflate under the knees — uncommon features in this class.
Conclusion

The Corolla is one of the most affordable vehicles in its class, and with a history of dependability, many will ignore its flaws and appreciate it for a car that always gets the job done, and now, with a bit of style.
If you’re looking for a compact sedan you might also want to check out the Honda Civic, Kia Rio, Nissan Tiida, Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra. Check their videos out too before you make a decision
